Presently, we live a time in which there is a vast amount of uncertainty and ambiguity about the direction in which organisations are moving. While many advances have been made in understanding the complexity of manufacturing/production engineering, the social and organisational context remains problematical. Interdisciplinary perspectives to further our knowledge and understanding of the development of manufacturing/production engineering and related change processes and work practices are needed.
